Western Power Distribution

Refrubishment and extensions to offices and warehouses for Western Power Distribution at Alfreton, Derby and Coventry.

Alfreton - The existing offices were extended via a new internal steel frame supported from new concrete stanchion bases cast internally. The 1st floor extension to the offices was formed via a beam and block flooring system covered with a screed topping. A new one hour fire wall was constructed to separate the office area from the warehouse and stores area. New offices were then formed on the ground and 1st floor areas, the ground floors split into several areas via blockwork to accommodate meeting rooms, archives, IT and UPS, first aid, toilet, mess rooms, small stores and reception areas with the first floor areas divided via lightweight stud partitions to provide an open plan office area, team leader rooms, toilet, mess room and kitchen areas.

Extensive M&E works were undertaken, incorporating heat recovery supply and extract ventilation, comfort cooling together with a central heating system to the workshop and stores areas fed via a floor mounted boiler and megaflow cylinders. A new mains distribution board was installed complete with sub mains distribution boards.

Externally the existing unit was reclad and all the windows were renewed with powder coated double glazed windows.

Derby - This project involved adapting and extending the existing internal offices along with extensive external works which involved new drainage, concrete service yard area and new palisade fencing to the perimeter together with new sliding gates and barriers.

Coventry - The work involved the internal demolition of the exting offices to allow new single storey offices to be built internally to provide general office accommodation, meeting rooms, storage rooms, mess room, first aid room and toilets together with other storage areas.

The offices were separated from the workshop areas via a 1 hour fire wall. New external fire escape doors and an insulated sectional roller shutter door. A full M&E package was incorporated into the refurbishment which included air conditioning to the offices and a new extract ventilation system. New toilets & cubicles were also incorporated within the refurbishment of the depot.

Externally new palisade fencing was erected to the perimeter with new sliding gates and an access controlled barrier was also installed.
